NARAL Pro-Choice New Mexico Hosts a
Reception for Pro-Choice Activists in Las Cruces
Las Cruces, N.M. NARAL Pro-Choice New Mexico hosted a reception last night for pro-choice activists who are forming a Choice Action Team in Las Cruces. Over 60 people gathered to learn about the march For Women's Lives in Washington, DC and to hear plans for pro-choice activities in Las Cruces. Choice Action Teams are one of many activities being organized by NARAL Pro-Choice New Mexico and are a key component of the mobilization to protect freedom of choice. Special guests at the event included Senator Mary Jane Garcia as well as State Democratic Party Committee Woman, Mary Gail Gwaltney.
"We must organize our state community by community, county by county, state by state until we have an active pro-choice majority that can counter the attacks on a woman's right to choose." stated Giovanna Rossi, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice New Mexico.
"The Choice Action Team that is forming here in Las Cruces is necessary in order to establish a long lasting activist base that can be effective throughout the year." stated Gayle Radom, organizer of Las Cruces Choice Action Team.
The mission of NARAL Pro-Choice New Mexico is to develop and sustain a constituency that uses the political process to guarantee every woman the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion.
